Education: BA, Westmont University, 1999; MAT, Fuller Theological Seminary, 2003; PhD, University of Aberdeen, 2007. At SPU since 2021.

Previously a professor of theology and ethics at Azusa Pacific University, Rev. Dr. Brian Lugioyo joined Seattle Pacific as dean of the School of Theology in 2021.

His research focuses on neuroscience and Christian anthropology, the role of liturgy and ethics, and the life and work of former protestant reformer, Martin Bucer.

He is a Cuban-American from a family of Presbyterian ministers and theologians. His wife Nicole is Dutch and lived in Holland during her youth. Together they have three children: Linden (12), Liesel (10), and Luca (8). They also have a golden retriever named Pax who loves the water.

Prior to Azusa Pacific University, Brian served as an assistant professor of theology and bible, and as the director of the master of arts at Spring Arbor University. He has also served in various roles at Vanguard University and Pepperdine University.
